~ The East Boston Social Center recently held their annual Picnic in the Park at Piers Park on the waterfront, and Age Strong staff were in attendance. The event, which aims to bring the community together and provide valuable resources, was a huge success.
Numerous organizations were present at the picnic, including Boston Senior Home Care, the Boston Public Library, Friendship Works, the Community Healing Center, and Neighborhood Pace. They offered information and resources to attendees, highlighting their commitment to supporting the community.
The picnic also featured various forms of entertainment such as dancing and socializing. DJ Tommy Bahama provided energetic tunes for everyone to enjoy while they participated in activities like a corn hole toss. The Boston Police Department even offered free ice cream to attendees.

Age Strong Commissioner Emily Shea was also present at the event and greeted everyone with a warm welcome. The festivities continued with multiple rounds of bingo and a raffle, giving participants the chance to win fun prizes and create lasting memories.
For many attendees, it was a great opportunity to spend time with friends and enjoy the last bit of summer before autumn sets in. The sense of community was palpable as people from all walks of life came together to celebrate.
The East Boston Social Center has been serving the community since 1918 when it was founded to support immigrant families. Today, they continue their mission by providing educational, social, and recreational programs for people of all ages. By bringing neighbors together through their services and programming, they strive to create a stronger and more connected community.
