WASHINGTON, July 17, 2024 ~ The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization dedicated to providing aid and relief to those facing disasters and emergencies, has announced the election of three new members to its Board of Governors. The newly-elected members are Christina Chiu, President of Empire State Realty Trust; Mary G. Berner, President and CEO of Cumulus Media Inc.; and Gunjan Kedia, President of U.S. Bancorp.
According to Chairman Gail J. McGovern, the organization is delighted to welcome these exceptional leaders to their Board of Governors. Each member brings a wealth of experience and a strong dedication to the Red Cross's mission. Chiu, Berner, and Kedia will provide valuable expertise and guidance as the organization continues its efforts in delivering comfort, relief, and hope to those in need.
Christina Chiu has an impressive background in the real estate industry. She currently serves as President of Empire State Realty Trust (ESRT) and has previously held various roles within the company including Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining ESRT, Chiu spent 18 years at Morgan Stanley where she held the position of Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer for their Global Listed Real Assets Investing business.

Mary G. Berner brings a wealth of media experience to her role as President and CEO of Cumulus Media Inc., a position she has held since October 2015. Before joining Cumulus, Berner served as President and CEO of MPA - The Association of Magazine Media where she advocated for the industry among advertisers, investors, consumers, and regulators. She also has previous experience as CEO of Reader's Digest Association and Fairchild Publications.
Gunjan Kedia is currently serving as President of U.S. Bancorp where she oversees three business lines - Consumer and Business Banking; Payment Services; and Wealth, Corporate, Commercial and Institutional Banking. With 30 years in the financial services industry under her belt, Kedia brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role. Prior to joining U.S. Bancorp, she held leadership positions at State Street Financial, BNY Mellon, and McKinsey & Company.

The Red Cross is governed by a Board of Governors who oversee the management of the organization's business. At the Annual Meeting held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, Chiu, Berner, and Kedia were each elected to a three-year term by delegates from local Red Cross units. In addition to the new members, current Board of Governors members were also re-elected for additional terms.
