~ Boston, MA- Age Strong, an organization dedicated to supporting the city's older adults, has been actively recruiting volunteers for various programs. These programs include AmeriCorps Seniors' RSVP Program, the City's Property Tax Workoff Program, and AmeriCorps Seniors' Senior Companion Program.
On September 20th, Age Strong hosted a gathering at City Hall for all volunteers involved in the Senior Companion Program. The event served as an opportunity to welcome new volunteers and recognize the hard work of current volunteers over the past year.
During the gathering, volunteers shared their experiences and activities with the older adults they were matched with. Some engaged in activities such as reading books together or visiting coffee shops, while others played cards or watched movies. One volunteer expressed her ultimate goal of being a friend to her assigned older adult.

The Senior Companion Program aims to provide assistance and companionship to older adults who may struggle with daily tasks such as shopping or paying bills. This support allows them to continue living independently in their homes and communities for as long as possible. Additionally, through this program, AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers also provide much-needed respite for family caregivers.
Age Strong expressed gratitude towards all of their dedicated volunteers and acknowledged the valuable gifts they provide to Boston's older adults. For more information on how to get involved with the Senior Companion Program, interested individuals can contact Quanda Smith at quanda.smith@boston.gov or 617-635-4366.
