~ The City of Boston Disabilities Commission has announced that they are currently accepting applications for the Boston Disability Commission Advisory Board. This board, which is composed of 13 members, plays a crucial role in supporting the city's efforts to make Boston a more inclusive and accessible place for people with disabilities. The board provides input on various issues such as housing, elections, transportation, emergency preparedness, and accessibility of public spaces. Kristen McCosh, Disability Commissioner and ADA Title II Coordinator for the City of Boston, stated that they are looking for passionate individuals who are deeply involved in disability advocacy and want to make Boston a leader in accessibility. She also emphasized that those with lived experience with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply as they can bring valuable insights into creating meaningful change within the city.

Interested residents can fill out an application or submit a letter of intent outlining their connection to disability issues, relevant experience, and motivation for joining the Advisory Board. Letters will be accepted on an ongoing basis with appointments being made later in the year. The commission is particularly seeking representation from historically underrepresented communities and those who identify as neurodivergent. There is also a dedicated seat on the board for a parent of a Boston Public School student with disabilities, and parents of students of any age are strongly encouraged to apply. While the board is seeking representation from specific neighborhoods, residents from all areas are encouraged to apply.
