October 6, 2025 ~ As the city of Woodhaven continues to make improvements to its infrastructure, residents can expect some changes in their daily commute. Starting from October 6th to October 10th, the city will begin installing raised crosswalks and paving the bike lane on Wood Street to Itasca Street.

In addition, a curb and sidewalk will be installed at the intersection with Itasca. This will provide a safer and more accessible route for pedestrians and cyclists in the area. The installation of curbs between Savannah and Corman will also be completed during this time, along with the installation of a curb between Favre and Brockton.

From October 13th to October 17th, reconstruction work will begin at the Woodhaven/Cummins intersection. To accommodate this work, Woodhaven Street will be closed to general traffic between 7 am and 3:30 pm. However, residents and drivers who need to access properties on Woodhaven Street will still be able to do so.

During this time, raised crosswalks on Wood Street to Itasca Street will also be completed. The city will continue paving the bike lane and install new curbs and sidewalks at the western corner of Ridlon Road intersection. Additionally, curbs between Richmere and Bismarck will also be installed.

From October 20th to October 24th, preparations for paving at intersections such as Wood/Harvard and side streets will take place. The road between Wood/Harvard to Weybosset/Greenfield roundabout will also be paved during this time. Paving of the bike lane on Wood Street to Itasca Street will continue, along with the installation of curbs between Bismarck and Woodhaven as well as Brockton and Favre.

Finally, from October 27th to October 31st, concrete pouring for remaining driveways and pedestrian ramps will take place. Work on signalized intersections as well as filling in material for planters and green infrastructure will also be completed. The installation of permanent signage will mark the completion of these improvements to the city's roads.

These upgrades aim to improve the safety and accessibility of Woodhaven's streets for all residents and visitors. The city urges everyone to be patient and follow any detours or traffic instructions during this time. With these improvements, Woodhaven is taking a step towards a more efficient and modern transportation system.
