Boston: Happy Pride Month!

~ As Pride Month begins, the LGBTQIA+ community is gearing up to celebrate and honor their identities and contributions. This annual observance, which takes place in June, aims to spread joy and recognize the struggles faced by the community.

Despite significant progress in terms of civil rights, the LGBTQIA+ community continues to face discrimination and attacks across the United States. In particular, transgender, nonbinary, gender nonconforming, and BIPOC members of the community are often targeted, threatening their basic rights to live freely.

In light of this ongoing struggle, the City Council of Boston has officially recognized June 2024 as Pride Month in the city. The council is urging all government agencies, public and private institutions, businesses, and schools to take meaningful actions in support of LGBTQIA+ individuals. This includes promoting equitable rights, freedoms, dignity, treatment, health, and safety for all members of Boston's LGBTQIA+ community.
