Trending...
~ Boston, MA - In response to the increasing demands on curb space caused by ride-sharing, delivery services, and population growth, the City of Boston is taking steps to improve parking regulations and make them more accessible for residents. The Streets Cabinet and Innovation and Technology Cabinet have announced plans to create a digital map of the city's curb network and regulations.

This initiative is being made possible through the U.S. Department of Transportation's SMART Grant, which aims to strengthen mobility and revolutionize transportation. By utilizing artificial intelligence, real-time information sharing, and planning expertise, the city hopes to effectively manage curbside space.

Jascha Franklin-Hodge, Chief of Streets for Boston, expressed gratitude for the grant funding and highlighted the potential benefits of this digital transformation. "The analysis and modeling made possible by SMART Grant funding will help us make the City's curb management more efficient for planners and more convenient for residents and businesses, as well as save time and money," he stated.

The digital map will not only benefit residents by providing them with a better understanding of where they can park but also assist delivery drivers in easily locating legal loading zones. This project is a crucial step towards addressing the challenges posed by the changing landscape of transportation in Boston.
