~ Boston, MA - In a resolution passed by the City Council on July 11, 2026, MADMOMS (Mothers Against Drugs, Inc.) was recognized for its dedication to raising awareness about substance-use-related harms and providing support to those affected by loss and recovery. The organization was founded in January 2024 by Janice V. Johnson in honor of her son, Ja'Maar "5ive" Johnson.
Johnson's more than two decades of service to Boston communities, including her work with The Youth for Unity Project, The Doll House Corporation, and the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute, were highlighted in the resolution. MADMOMS offers holistic healing services, support groups, community events, and educational programming to promote awareness, recovery, resilience, and wellness.

The resolution also acknowledged MADMOMS' annual Dad Speak Week Live initiative which creates a space for fathers to share their experiences and connect families with resources while celebrating community leadership.
In addition to these efforts, MADMOMS will be opening the 5ive Star Studio Café at The Phoenix on July 11th. This songwriting and music space is designed to support healing through creative expression, mentorship, and peer support.
To further recognize the organization's impact on the community, the City Council declared July 11th as MADMOMS Day and encouraged residents to support their mission of promoting recovery, remembrance, healing, and community connection. With this recognition from the City Council and continued efforts from MADMOMS, it is clear that their dedication to making a positive impact on those affected by substance use will continue for years to come.
