During Chu's tenure as Chief of Staff, she focused on translating Mayor Wu's vision into action and mobilizing teams across city government to deliver tangible results for residents. She also helped build a strong leadership team, including hiring 15 Cabinet Chiefs, and operationalized the Mayor's priorities in areas such as climate, planning, transportation, arts and culture, and community safety.
Chu is most proud of bringing an entrepreneurial mindset and design expertise to City Hall, championing new ways to cut red tape and solve long-standing issues. She also introduced best practices for people management and collaboration within City Hall, including creating the City's first People Operations Cabinet.
Before serving as Mayor Wu's first Chief of Staff, Chu was the former CEO & Co-founder of Remix, a software platform for transportation planning used by over 500 cities worldwide. After transitioning this role to Kelly in November, Chu plans to take a sabbatical and spend more time with her family.
As Boston looks towards the future under Mayor Wu's leadership, Kelly will play a crucial role in driving progress and making the city a home for all its residents. With her experience and dedication to public service, she is well-equipped to lead the Mayor's Office and continue building collaboration between all levels of government.
