Boston: Mayor’s Cup Ice Hockey Tournament begins on December 13

~ Boston, MA- The city is gearing up for the 30th Annual Mayor's Cup, a highly anticipated youth hockey tournament that will kick off on December 13. With 136 games scheduled to take place at eight different rinks throughout the city, this year's tournament is expected to be bigger and better than ever before.

A total of 1,300 young hockey players from seven different programs will be participating in the tournament. These programs include Allston-Brighton, S.C.O.R.E Boston, Charlestown, Dorchester, Hyde Park, Parkway, and South Boston. These players will compete in 16 different divisions for the coveted title of 'Boston's Best' in ice hockey.

Mayor Michelle Wu expressed her excitement for the upcoming tournament and highlighted the importance of youth sports like hockey in building confidence and promoting teamwork among young people. She also emphasized the role of sports in keeping youth healthy and active.

Hockey enthusiasts and supporters can catch all the action at eight different ice rinks across the city. These include Bajko Rink in Hyde Park; The Edward T. Barry Rink at UMass Boston Dorchester; Murphy Rink in South Boston; O'Neil Rink in Charlestown; Reilly Rink in Brighton; Roche Arena in West Roxbury; Matthews Arena in Back Bay; and Conte Forum at Boston College.

The success of the Mayor's Cup would not be possible without the support of various organizations such as Boston College, Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), University of Massachusetts Boston, Northeastern University, and FMC Ice Sports.
