Boston: October is Italian-American Heritage Month

~ The City of Boston has adopted a resolution to recognize October 2023 as Italian-American Heritage Month. This is in celebration of the rich culture, food, art and generational traditions of Italian-Americans.

Italian immigrants from the Liguria, Campana, Abruzzo, Sicily and Lazio regions have been settling in Boston neighborhoods since the 1860s. These include the North End, East Boston, Brighton, Hyde Park and South Boston.

Thomas M. Menino, the grandson of Italian immigrants and longest serving Mayor in Boston's history is one example of many who have served the city selflessly in public office. The ongoing generations of their descendants have cultivated unique and beautiful neighborhoods that reflect their dedication to Italian culture.
