Boston: Parks announces 2024 Holiday Lightings

Trending...
~ Boston, MA - Due to ongoing construction, the annual Copley Square tree lighting will not be taking place this year. However, there are still plenty of holiday festivities happening throughout the city.

One such event is the Lighting of the Trellis at Christopher Columbus Park on Monday, November 25 from 5-6 p.m. Located on Boston's historic waterfront and maintained by the Friends of Christopher Columbus Park, this site will be transformed into a beautiful holiday display with 50,000 blue lights illuminating the park's 260 feet of trellis and 14 decorated trees.

The following day, on Tuesday, November 26 at 11 a.m., Boston's official Christmas tree for 2024 will arrive at Boston Common. The tree, a 30-year-old white spruce standing at 45 feet tall, will be donated by Hugh and Liz Ryan of Mattie Settlement in Nova Scotia. The public is invited to join in the fanfare as the tree arrives on a flatbed truck and enjoy candy canes and a visit from Santa.

On Saturday, November 30 from 4-6 p.m., the fourth annual lighting of the ship at Martin's Park will take place at Smith Family Waterfront in South Boston. This event celebrates Martin's Park, a climate-resilient park built in memory of Martin W. Richard - the youngest victim of the Boston Marathon bombings. The park features a ship as its centerpiece and it will be lit up for the holidays.
