~ In response to a recent violent incident in the South End/Roxbury neighborhood, the Council has adopted a resolution showing support for the city's first responders. The resolution, passed on October 5, 2025, condemns any acts of violence against police officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and all other first responders.
The incident in question occurred in the early morning hours of October 5th when a Boston Police cruiser was set on fire and officers were assaulted while responding to an unlawful street takeover. This event served as a reminder of the daily risks faced by those who serve and protect their community.

During the Council meeting, members emphasized the professionalism and dedication of first responders and recognized the sacrifices made not only by those in uniform but also by their families. The resolution also called for full accountability for those responsible for the assault and arson.
Furthermore, the Council reaffirmed its commitment to providing first responders with the necessary resources, respect, and protection to carry out their duties safely. They also assured their families that the city stands with them now and in the future.
