~ A mechanical issue has caused the Alford Street Bridge to be partially closed for pedestrian traffic. The decision was made by officials to close the westerly side of the bridge, which includes the Encore Casino and MBTA garage, in order to ensure public safety and prevent any potential hazards. The closure will also include a temporary shutdown of the right-hand traffic lane while repairs are being completed by a contractor. The timeline for these repairs will be updated as more information becomes available. However, once work zone barriers are installed and lane restrictions are implemented, the sidewalk will reopen for pedestrians. To assist with traffic management during this time, Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be installed to guide and inform drivers.
