~ As the summer season continues, the city of Boston is gearing up for a series of exciting events that will bring together residents, visitors, and business owners. From car-free streets to lively festivals, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

One of the most highly anticipated events is Open Streets Newbury, which will take place on Sunday, August 18th in the Back Bay neighborhood. This event will transform Newbury Street from Berkeley Street to Massachusetts Avenue into a pedestrian-friendly zone filled with fun activities such as walking, biking, skating, and family-friendly games. To ensure safety and accessibility for all attendees, temporary parking regulations will be in place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Newbury Street and its intersecting streets.

In Jamaica Plain and Roxbury, the annual Dominican Parade will also be taking place on Sunday, August 18th. The parade will start at Hyde Square and follow its traditional route along Perkins Street, Centre Street, Columbus Avenue, Walnut Avenue, and ending at Franklin Park. To accommodate this event, parking restrictions will be enforced on several streets including Perkins Street and Centre Street.

Meanwhile in Mattapan on August 17th and 24th, community pop-up events will be held at Municipal Lot #14 on Fairway Street. As a result of these events, parking restrictions will be in place for the entire lot.

The North End neighborhood will also be bustling with activity as two feasts take place in August. The Fisherman's Feast from Wednesday August 14th through Sunday August 18th and the Saint Anthony - Saint Lucy Festival from Wednesday August 21st through Monday August 26th. Both events will require parking restrictions on various streets including Lewis Street, Fleet Street, North Street and more.

In addition to these events, there will also be a Red Line diversion from Monday August 19th through Sunday August 25th due to necessary maintenance work. Shuttle buses will replace Red Line service and make all stops, with downtown stops differing from the usual Red Line stations. To accommodate this diversion, parking restrictions will be in place on several roads including Preble Street, Dorchester Ave, and Summer Street.

The MBTA is also advising riders to purchase round-trip tickets instead of one-way tickets for a faster return trip. For those looking for alternative transportation options, Bluebikes and the MBTA can be accessed through their respective websites.

As always, the city encourages attendees to walk, bike or take public transit to these events to reduce traffic and promote a healthier lifestyle. With so many exciting events happening in Boston this summer, there is no better time to get out and explore the city.
