~ Boston, MA - As the city prepares to honor and celebrate its veterans, residents and visitors are encouraged to utilize alternative modes of transportation to attend the various events happening in the Back Bay and Franklin Park areas.
The Veterans Day Parade, taking place on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 12:00PM, will kick off at Copley Square and proceed along Boylston Street before turning left onto Tremont Street. The parade route will then continue straight onto Cambridge Street, ending at City Hall Plaza. In order to ensure a smooth flow of the parade, parking restrictions will be in place from 6AM to 3PM on Saturday on Boylston Street, Tremont Street, and Cambridge Street.
For those looking to avoid traffic and parking hassles, walking is highly encouraged as a means of transportation. Additionally, information on Bluebikes, the regional bike share service, can be found on their website for those who prefer biking. Public transit is also a convenient option with information on the MBTA available online. The MBTA advises riders to purchase round-trip tickets for a faster return trip.

On Saturday, November 23rd, the annual Camp Harbor View Citython 5K will take place starting from Charles Street between the Public Garden and Boston Common. The race route will take runners along Beacon Street before turning onto Arlington Street and Commonwealth Avenue outbound. Runners will then turn around at Charlesgate West before returning by Commonwealth Avenue inbound. Parking restrictions will be in place on Arlington Street, Beacon Street (south side), and Charles Street during this event.
In Franklin Park on Sunday, November 10th, the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) will be hosting their annual Half Marathon event. The race route includes Pierpont Road in Franklin Park before turning right onto Jewish War Vets Drive and continuing onto Circuit Drive. Runners will then follow Forest Hills Drive before turning right onto Arborway and continuing on Pond Street, Jamaicaway, and Riverway. The race will then turn around on Riverway before heading back towards Franklin Park via the Forest Hills Overpass.
