After four years of extensive planning, collaboration, and deployment, Boston's first environmental sensor network has been successfully installed. This milestone was achieved through the Common SENSES action-research project, which aims to improve safety, health, and environmental conditions along Blue Hill Avenue.
Led by Chief Innovation Officer Santi Garces, the project was rooted in community participation and ownership. Garces emphasized the importance of community-led solutions in the city, stating that they have the most impact. He also expressed his gratitude to the neighbors and city leaders for championing the use of community stories and environmental data to inspire participation and meaningful change.
