~ Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has announced that the city's annual Gospel Fest will be held on Sunday, August 30 at 5:00 p.m. on City Hall Plaza. The event, which showcases local and national gospel talent, will be headlined by Billboard Gospel Charts-topping artist Todd Galberth.

According to Mayor Wu, the Gospel Fest is a beloved tradition that brings people together through music, community, and faith. She believes that it is a reflection of the city's welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere for everyone.

Joining Galberth in the lineup of talented performers are the Community Choir, City Praise Team, Jesus Gang The Family, Alexis Benoit, Angela Elizabeth, Pastor Jeremy D. Battle, and the Boston Latin School Gospel Choir. The Community Choir is made up of over 85 members from nearly 40 churches across the city and region.

Donald Wright, Interim Chief of Economic Opportunity and Inclusion, expressed his belief that this summer has shown what is possible when Boston comes together. He sees Gospel Fest as a joyful reminder of the city's greatest success - its people.

Will Dickerson, Senior Advisor & Head of Faith-based Initiatives, described Gospel Fest as a musical celebration that connects different generations through faith, joy, hope and peace. He encourages families to attend and share in this uplifting experience with their neighbors and friends.

In addition to the musical performances, there will also be food vendors at the event including Cool Shade Jamaican Food Truck, Gourmet Fingerz Southern Cuisine, Chivo Taqueria and Boston Cookie Kitchen. Attendees are advised to bring their own chairs for seating.

The Office of Tourism Sports and Entertainment is also planning other events on City Hall Plaza such as the Donna Summer Disco Party on August 28 and Summer Dance Parties on August 14 and September 12. The Friday Afternoon Concert Series will also continue on August 7 and 21.

Furthermore, the city will be hosting Open Streets Boston from August through October. This event allows local businesses to expand onto the streets and create a safe space for music, games, bicycling, and community tabling in different neighborhoods. The remaining dates for Open Streets Boston are September 12 in Mattapan, October 4 in Allston-Brighton, and October 18 in Roslindale. All events will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
