NEW BEDFORD, Mass. - BostonChron -- Global Learning Charter Public School (GLCPS) students recently created and held a fundraising effort to aid earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.
Members of the Student Council and the Rainbow Royals Club teamed up to hold a fundraiser selling decorative Jibbitz for the popular shoes Crocs. They exceeded their fundraising goal of $300 bringing in $350.45.
"Our students are aware of what is happening globally and are committed to helping people in need," said Dr. Stephen Furtado, Executive Director of Global Learning Charter Public School. "I am proud of these students for realizing a need and taking the initiative to create an innovative and successful fundraiser."

GLCPS recently opened the long-anticipated opening of a state-of-the-art STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Music) education center for students at the Global Learning Charter Public School (GLCPS) is a reality. The new Joan and Irwin Jacobs STEAM Center for Education stands adjacent to the school's main campus. GLCPS is a tuition-free public charter school serving 500 New Bedford students in Grades 5-12.
