Celebrity Event Co-Host, Jawn Murray, and Surprise Special Guest, L.A. Reid, Were Among the Notables in Attendance Who Honored Innovators and Changemakers in Black Music on Saturday, July 23rd in Cincinnati, Ohio
CINCINNATI - BostonChron -- The Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame Induction and Dedication Ceremony took place at the Andrew Brady Music Center on Saturday, July 23, 2022, during the Cincinnati Music Festival weekend. Hamilton County Commissioner and Founder of the Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame, Alicia Reece, led a star-studded and privately funded Induction Ceremony and community celebration that shined a light on Cincinnati's greatness. The 2022 Inductees were Pop artist, Penny Ford, R&B Group, Midnight Star, Rapper and Hip-Hop Producer, Hi-Tek, and Jazz guitarist, Wilbert Longmire. They joined the Founding 2021 Inductees who were Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Bootsy Collins, Otis Williams, Dr. Charles Fold, and The Isley Brothers, during an exciting and emotional ceremony that honored their careers as changemakers in the music industry. Surprise Special Guest, L.A. Reid, joined the festivities to pay honor to Midnight Star, who helped launch his music career. The 2022 Induction Ceremony was co-hosted by Jawn Murray, Celebrity Pop Culture Personality and Executive Producer of the new "Sherri" show that stars Sherri Shepherd and debuts nationally this Fall. The event also featured a pop-up roller-skating rink and a special performance by National Recording Artist, ZAPP.

"I want to thank the thousands of people who came out and for the overwhelming support," states Hamilton County Commissioner and Founder of the Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame, Alicia Reece, "This was a historic moment. We now have 8 powerful inductees- Penny Ford, Midnight Star, Bootsy Collins, Hi-Tek, Otis Williams, Dr. Charles Fold, and The Isley Brothers, and there is so much more to come."
The Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame is located along the Ohio Riverbank across from the Paul Brown NFL Stadium – home of Cincinnati Music Festival and next door to the Andrew Brady Music Center. It will be a free family tourist attraction that will feature LED screens with video content, a dance area, artists kiosks, and interactive augmented reality experiences. The attraction will also be able to accommodate 200 of the Inductee stars. During the July 23rd Induction Ceremony, eight of the stars were unveiled in the ground of the Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame. The project is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2023 and the Grand Opening of the Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame will take place on Saturday, July 22, 2023.
