BOSTON - BostonChron -- Lynn Bentley, President of Knobull reported, "Resumes vary depending on your career and education level as well as the type of position you are applying for. The following are the most critical components that can mean the difference between a successful versus unsuccessful resume:"
The contact section should be at the top of your resume and include your first and last name, address, email address and phone number.
After your contact information, you may choose to include a resume profile that highlights key skills and significant accomplishments. In general, these can be helpful if they concisely describe your immediate employment goal, but it is not an essential component of a successful resume.
The education section is also a necessary part of your resume. This component of your resume outlines your educational background as well as any academic achievements or awards you have received. You should include the name of the college and start to end dates you attended, the degrees you completed and honors or achievements you earned.

Your resume should include an experience section that clearly outlines in chronological order the specific work and other experience you have that is relevant to the position you are applying for. You should include the companies you have worked for, the title you held at each company and the specific duties you had in your position.
In this section of your resume, you can list the specific accomplishments you have as they relate to the job you are applying for. Measurable accomplishments you should put in this section include cost reduction, revenue growth, efficiency improvements and other related organizational enhancements that are specifically relevant to the position.
For technically oriented positions, you should list the specific skills you have as they relate to the job you are applying for. Key skills you could put in this section include computer language skills, technical skills and other hard skills that are specifically relevant to the position.
Bentley concluded, "Including the most important parts of a resume is crucial to providing potential employers with an in-depth outline of your qualifications, experience and education. Each part of a resume plays a significant role and can influence your chances of being considered for an interview. Leaving out important sections in your resume can prevent potential employers from realizing why you would be a good fit."
