BOSTON - BostonChron -- As a small child, Linda Marks, was passionate about music and felt a magnetic pull to pianos and all things musical. Her first word was piano, and she was placed in a Longy School of Music experimental program for gifted and talented kids at age 3. She started writing music in grammar school, and wrote the 8th grade graduation song. Linda holds a degree in Music with honors and distinction from Yale University, She has not stopped since.
Did you know that Linda just returned home from The International Singer Songwriters Associations Awards Gala in Atlanta Georgia, and did you know she brought home some crystal. She was presented with the ISSA Award for the USA Representative of the Year. She has had an exciting 2023 so far and she is not stopping, she is stepping out worldwide. She is looking to drop her first worldwide radio release with BIG Records on September 29th with "September Morn".

Singer-songwriters are also composers. And for Linda to have been selected to showcase her work in a composer's showcase is a great honor...and a completely different format than a singer-songwriter is used to.
Linda Marks is known for writing songs at the heart of our times...and this show taking place September 12th includes some of those: "Be The Light," inspired by Amanda Gorman's inaugural poem opens the show, "Our Children's Prayer" (on Linda's 2023 Everyday Legends album which is still on the Roots Music Reports Folk Charts after 8 months! --written in the voices of the children of Uvalde), "Be The Change" (co-written with Mike Greenly, which will be on Linda's 15th studio album The Silence of the Stars), and Love Always Wins (co-written with Lisa Jeanette, which will be on A Recipe For Hope) are fine examples.
Another fine fact to note is that two songs included in the show are up for awards, "Our Children's Prayer" is up for Best American Roots Song and "Windows And Doors" is up for Best American Roots Performance in the first round of the 2024 Grammys--both on Everyday Legends album which is up for Best Folk album in the first round of the 2024 Grammys. Wow, even more reason to attend the show and explore and purchase the music library of Linda Marks.
