~ On June 26, Mayor Michelle Wu, along with Boston Parks Commissioner Ryan Woods, elected officials, and members of the Dorchester community gathered at Mother's Rest Park at Four Corners for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event celebrated the completion of a $1.99 million renovation project that aimed to revitalize the park and provide new amenities for residents to enjoy.

During her speech, Mayor Wu expressed her excitement about the new features of the park, which were unveiled just in time for summer. She also thanked the Dorchester community for their valuable feedback and commitment to making Mother's Rest Park a welcoming space for people of all ages.

The revitalized park boasts updated play areas for children aged 2-5 and 5-12, including new swings, spinners, see-saws, and more. One of the highlights is a brand new splash pad that offers interactive water play for kids. In addition to these features, the park now includes cross-training equipment, tennis tables, amphitheater seating, and a community gathering space.

The design of Mother's Rest Park was led by Deborah Myers Landscape Architecture and construction was completed by ANJ Construction. The project budget included $200,000 for design and $1.99 million for construction. This funding came from capital funds as well as a generous donation of $52,000 from the Friends of Post Office Square.

Commissioner Ryan Woods spoke about how the needs and desires of the Four Corners community were taken into consideration during the planning process. He expressed his satisfaction with how the $1.99 million investment has resulted in a park that meets those needs and provides a space for people to come together.

The design and development of Mother's Rest Park were heavily influenced by feedback from community members collected through public meetings and surveys starting in fall 2021. Suggestions such as adding a water play area for kids, creating a platform for spoken word performances, and incorporating spaces for fitness classes were all incorporated into the final design.
