~ Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has announced new appointments to the Boston Civic Design Commission, bringing a diverse range of voices and perspectives to shape design outcomes in the city. This transition in membership is part of the biennial review of the Commission's composition, which aims to balance the infusion of new talent with the preservation of institutional knowledge.
"I am excited to welcome these new commissioners to the Boston Civic Design Commission," said Mayor Wu. "Their perspectives will be invaluable as we consider new development proposals and work towards making Boston a home for everyone."
The two new appointees are Jonathan Garland and David Nagahiro. Garland is the founder and principal of Garland Enterprises (JGE), a minority-owned design and development firm based in Boston. With expertise in affordable housing projects, Garland brings a valuable perspective to the Commission.
Nagahiro is the principal and president of CBT Architects, a renowned architecture and design firm responsible for many iconic projects that define Boston's skyline. He currently serves on several boards, including Artists for Humanity, the Boston Preservation Alliance, and Architecture Boston's Editorial Board.
