New England Law | Boston Alumna Amy L. Blake Confirmed as Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Appeals Court

BOSTON, Oct. 31, 2024 ~ New England Law | Boston is proud to announce the confirmation of alumna and former adjunct faculty member, Amy L. Blake, as the Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Appeals Court. After a thorough review of her nomination by the Governor's Council, Chief Justice Blake has been appointed to this prestigious position. She brings with her a decade of experience as an associate justice on the Appeals Court.

Acting Dean and Professor of Law at New England Law | Boston, Allison M. Dussias, expressed her congratulations to Chief Justice Blake on her appointment. "During her time at New England Law, Chief Justice Blake demonstrated her exceptional intellect and skills as a student and later as a jurist, lawyer, and lecturer," said Dussias. "We are immensely proud to have played a small role in this historic achievement." As a student at the institution, Chief Justice Blake was recognized as a New England Scholar and received the Amos L. Taylor Award for Excellence in Achievement.

Prior to joining the Appeals Court in 2014, Chief Justice Blake served as an associate justice on the Probate and Family Court from 2008-2014. She also has extensive experience in private practice, having been a partner at Casner & Edwards LLP and White, Inker & Aronson LLP, as well as an associate at Yasi & Yasi PC. Additionally, she worked as an assistant district attorney for the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office.

Chief Justice Blake is highly involved in various legal organizations and serves as the District One Director of the National Association of Women Judges. She is also a fellow of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation and an associate editor of the Massachusetts Law Review. Her contributions to the legal community have not gone unnoticed; she has been named Jurist of the Year by the Middlesex County Bar Association and Lawyer of the Year by North Shore Women Lawyers' Association. She has also received recognition from the Massachusetts Association of Women Lawyers, including the Distinguished Jurist Award.
