Peak Physical Therapy & Sports Performance Establishes Prostatectomy Rehabilitation Program

Trending...
BRAINTREE, Mass. - BostonChron -- Peak Physical Therapy & Sports Performance has established a Prostatectomy Rehabilitation Program to assist patients scheduled for a prostatectomy in preparing for the surgery and recovery.

The program is designed for patients scheduled for prostatectomy in 8 or more weeks and offers education on the pelvic floor and a workout program to improve strength and coordination of the pelvic floor muscles. Patients will learn about the diaphragm and its role in pelvic function along with healthy bladder habits. Patients will learn how to modify day-to-day activities to improve continence post-operatively and ensure a post-operative evaluation with Peak.

"We have seen a great improvement with patient's post-operative recovery when they are educated about what to expect and are prepared," said Eric Edelman, PT, founder of Peak Physical Therapy and Sports Performance. "The preparation for the surgery really helps patients with their day-to-day recovery and we are pleased to be able to offer this unique and effective program to patients across the South Shore."
