NEWBURYPORT, Mass. - BostonChron -- In response to the devastating fires burning throughout Los Angeles, Runway for Recovery (http://www.runwayforrecovery.org), a non-profit organization working to redefine the breast cancer experience for families by providing a full continuum of support, has opened its Family Grant program two months early to provide emergency grants for L.A.- and Orange County-based families affected by both metastatic breast cancer and the wildfires. Applications are now being accepted online at its website: www.runwayforrecovery.org.
Runway for Recovery was originally scheduled to open online applications for its Family Grant program on March 1, following its January 25th Southern California Runway Show in Newport Beach, Calif., where 40 models impacted by breast cancer will be showcasing a collection of designer fashions to raise critical funds for those who are currently fighting breast cancer, their families, and loved ones of those who have passed. As of now, the event is still scheduled to continue as planned, along with its February 27th Runway Show in New York City. However, Runway for Recovery exists to support basic needs for families in unimaginable times and recognizes that the needs of families are likely even greater now due to the devastation caused by the wildfires. By opening the application window early, the organization hopes to ensure that families in need have access to critical, immediate financial assistance.
