WALTHAM, Mass., Oct. 1, 2024 ~ In a recent announcement, Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) revealed changes to their senior leadership team. The firm's Principal, Emily Hopps, will now take on the role of Building Technology Region Head, East. This position will involve overseeing the building enclosure consulting divisions in Boston and Waltham, MA; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; and Washington, DC. As part of her new responsibilities, Hopps will also join SGH's Executive Committee, which is responsible for making management and operational decisions for the firm.
According to SGH Chief Technology Officer Niklas Vigener, Hopps embodies the values and qualities that make SGH stand out. He praised her for her thoughtful approach, ability to see the bigger picture, and focus on teamwork as a leader, mentor, and advocate for clients. Vigener also noted that Hopps has dedicated her entire professional career to improving SGH and expressed his satisfaction in seeing her take this next step in her career.

Hopps brings with her extensive experience in building enclosure consulting. She has overseen design projects, investigations, restoration work, commissioning processes, and construction administration for both historic and contemporary buildings. Her expertise lies in building enclosure systems such as walls, roofing, waterproofing, and window and curtain walls. In addition to being a dedicated leader and mentor within SGH's Flooring, Paint, and Coatings practice group for several years, Hopps has also been involved with various professional organizations outside of the firm. She is a Founding Director of the Professional Women in Construction Boston Chapter.
Expressing her gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Building Technology Region Head East at SGH,Hopps stated that she is honored to support the talented professionals across all divisions within this role. She also shared her excitement about finding new ways to enhance the built environment for clients and communities.

Hopps takes over from Senior Principal Vince Cammalleri, who previously held the position of Region Head. Cammalleri will now focus on his role as the firm's Head of Business Administration. In addition, SGH Principal Joshua Kivela will assume Hopps' former role as Building Technology Division Head in Waltham. Kivela specializes in designing high-performance enclosure systems for both historic and contemporary buildings, with a focus on integrating complex glazing, wall, roofing, and waterproofing systems.
