SILVER SPRING, Md. - BostonChron -- Friends in Solidarity will host SheRising: Voices of South Sudan on March 4, a free online webinar highlighting women's leadership, faith, and community life in South Sudan.
The webinar is open to supporters, faith communities, educators, and all who wish to learn more about how women are shaping peace and daily life through service and accompaniment. Through personal reflection and lived experience, SheRising invites participants to listen to voices rooted in faith, care, and hope.
The event will feature Mary Mindraa Jino Gama, a Catholic pastoral leader and youth organizer serving within the Archdiocese of Juba. Mary supports youth across 21 parishes through leadership formation, spiritual reflection, peacebuilding dialogue, and trauma healing initiatives. Her work reflects the vital role Catholic women play in strengthening communities across South Sudan.

Beyond her pastoral role, Mary has co-founded a small community initiative supporting women and girls in prison, offering human rights education, vocational skills, and psychosocial accompaniment. Her experience speaks to the broader contributions of women who serve quietly but faithfully within their communities.

Friends in Solidarity (FiS) is a collaborative ministry initiated by Catholic religious congregations in the United States to support the people of South Sudan through education, pastoral care, healthcare training, trauma healing, and sustainable agriculture. As the U.S. partner of Solidarity with South Sudan, FiS provides critical financial and logistical support to on-ground programs that empower South Sudanese communities to build a future rooted in dignity and self-reliance.
