ABILENE, Texas - BostonChron -- Smooth Ag has announced the first operating center location in Miami, TX. This location will act as a center for beta testing on nearby ranches along with R&D and Rover servicing.
This location will bring robotics to one of the smallest towns in the panhandle of Texas, and offer job opportunities that are dwindling as the Oil & Gas industry winds down in a once booming community. The town currently has a population of 521. The facility is a .89-acre commercial property that was once a lumber yard and is being renovated to serve as one of multiple Operating Centers across North America.
"We chose Miami, TX as our Southwest Operating Center for a variety of reasons, but most importantly its location is at the center of livestock production. We are only a few hours from major markets like Amarillo, Oklahoma City, or Wichita, KS giving us the ability to best serve our customers around these markets. It also helps that many former oil and gas workers will be right at home around our steel machines and I&E (instrumentation and electronics)," says co-founder and head of corporate development Hunter Allemand.
