Growing homeowner demand for an independent, no-pressure solar specialist drives the expansion, as more buyers choose to start with a consultant instead of a sales rep.
SCITUATE, Mass. - BostonChron -- Solar Dave MA, the independent residential solar specialist behind solardavema.com, today announced it is expanding beyond the South Shore of Massachusetts to serve homeowners across all of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and southern New Hampshire.
The expansion is driven by rising demand from homeowners who want to start their solar journey with an independent specialist rather than a commissioned salesperson for a single installer. Owner Dave Simmer has personally guided homeowners through assessment, design, permitting, and utility paperwork since 2011, with more than 1,800 installations completed.
"The biggest mistake I see homeowners make is starting the conversation with a salesperson whose only job is to sell one company's panels," said Simmer. "When you start with a specialist instead, you get someone who designs the system around your roof, your utility, and your goals. That is why the demand kept growing, and it is why I am expanding."

The timing matters. With the 30 percent federal solar tax credit expired as of December 31, 2025, the margin for error is tighter than ever. Because Simmer is product-agnostic, working across Enphase, SolarEdge, REC, Tesla, Fortress, and more, he matches equipment to each home rather than fitting every home to one product line. That matters even more across a multi-state territory, where net metering and incentive rules change from Massachusetts to Rhode Island to New Hampshire.
"Dave from Second Generation was a straight shooter," said Randy Harrison, a Lincoln, Massachusetts homeowner who worked with Simmer to future-proof his system for a heat pump and EV charging. "Over time, he and I built that trust."
A recent Scituate project shows the payoff: Simmer designed a 13.4 kW system projected to save the homeowner roughly $157,000 over its life, sized to actual usage rather than oversized to inflate a sale.
