This month's "Third Thursdays" features the following harmolodic jazz series lineup: Matt Lavelle (flugelhorn, alto, and bass clarinet), Fred Williams (bass), James Kamal Jones (drums) with Dave Bryant (series host/keys).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - BostonChron -- The "Third Thursdays" harmolodic jazz series will be concluding its third 12-month cycle of monthly concerts in March, featuring audience favorites Matt Lavelle (flugelhorn, alto, and bass clarinet), Fred Williams (bass), and James Kamal Jones (drums), along with series host Dave Bryant (keys). Video highlights of their 2022 "Third Thursdays" performance can be found at www.youtube.com/watch?v=Op8Fh4Hj55w.
Dave notes that "This group has been one of the great joys of the series. Matt and I are preparing another program of compositions by Ornette Coleman and Bern Nix, and it's always great to reunite the rhythm section of Prime Time vets Fred and James."
Dave recently announced that the fourth 12-month cycle of "Third Thursdays" concerts will kick-off in April with a "Third Thursdays" Pacific Northwest tour through Seattle, Bellingham, and Vancouver BC. April's "Third Thursdays" on-the-road tour will include Neil Leonard (sax), Jamaaladeen Tacuma (bass), and James Kamal Jones (drums), along with Dave's longtime colleague King Dahl on bass and Jerry Steinhilber on drums, both prominent musicians on the Bellingham scene.

Another key purpose of the series is to document the experiences, reminiscences, and musical contributions of members of Coleman's bands. All videos, including interviews with Bryant's former Coleman colleagues, are available at dbryantmusic.com/third-thursdays, dbryantmusic.com/musician-interviews, and on youtube.com/@davebryantmusic/videos (https://www.youtube.com/@davebryantmusic/videos).
