O'LYN Roofing raises $23,660 for families impacted by cancer during its 10th Annual Tom Olen Memorial Golf Outing
NORWOOD, Mass. - BostonChron -- Norwood MA – O'LYN Roofing, a local roofing contractor that has operated out of Norwood for 49 years, hosted its 10th Annual Tom Olen Memorial Golf Outing last Thursday, June 1st, at Brookmeadow Country Club in Canton Massachusetts.
The event honors the memory of Tom Olen, a long-time resident of the Neponset Valley community who passed away from cancer in 2010. The 10th annual golf tournament raised a record-breaking sum of $23,660 in proceeds that will be used to financially assist families struggling with cancer. The fund also awarded a $5,000 scholarship to Caeleigh Brown, a Norwood high school senior who was treated for leukemia at age 12 and who plans on studying nursing at James Madison University.
"This was a truly fantastic year, and we appreciate the support from our generous sponsors, including the Central Auto Team, Owens Corning, ABC Supply Co., Heritage Wholesalers, and AstraLuna Craft Spirits" said Michael Olen, founder of the Tom Olen Memorial Fund and brother of Tom Olen. "We are now turning our focus toward helping individuals and families who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of a cancer diagnosis."
